Frequently asked questions
Quick answers about this fork's access, versions and data boundaries.
Can I register on the hosted workspace?
The hosted workspace currently requires an existing account and does not provide public registration. A fresh instance you operate has its own setup and access settings. The landing site is informational and contains no real user notes.
Is the Rust source public?
This customized distribution's repository is private. The original Memos application is available upstream under MIT. Public upstream source access does not grant access to this private repository. Use deployment commands only in a checkout you are authorized to use.
Which version do these docs cover?
Application version 0.1.0, based on the source snapshot recorded in attribution. There are no duplicate upstream 0.30/0.31 documentation trees here. API schema metadata, application version and persisted database schema version are separate values.
Are private notes encrypted from the operator?
No such guarantee is made. Visibility controls application access, while the server and storage operators control the installation. Use only a host you trust, review external integrations, and keep protected backups. Sharing a link can grant a recipient access even when the ordinary instance pages require sign-in.
Where should I start?
For writing, read memos. For self-hosting with source access, start with Getting started. For automation, use API access or MCP. For a problem, use Troubleshooting.
